KAYAT Presents the Autumn Sijo Contest!

The Korean American Youth Artists of Texas presents the Autumn Sijo Contest to showcase a wonderful form of Korean poetry: sijo. This year, Texan youth are invited to submit a sijo about any age-appropriate topic. The contest will run from September 1 to November 1. We would love to see your creation of and connection to this beautiful Korean art form!

Prizes

The winner will be featured on KAYAT’s social media and receive a cash prize of $50 with a special gift basket!

Submission Rules

  • You must be a resident of Texas, ages 5-18. 

  • Your submission must be your own original sijo. 

  • You may submit only one sijo. 

  • No entry fee required.

Judging Criteria

  • Correct sijo form and structure

  • Expression of the theme

  • Writing style and voice

  • Creativity and originality 

Judging Process

The judging process is completely blind, meaning the judges won't see any identifying or personal details. 

Winners will be notified in early November by email.
